After a couple of rescheduled wedding dates, Alex and Kathy are officially able to say that they are husband and wife! I have to start out by saying that I just loved how interactive Kathy and Alex were with me throughout the season of their engagement! Kathy was always so excited to text me photos of their decor ideas, venue, and even her very own wedding dress (had to pick my jaw up off the floor with that text message, she looked so beautiful!!). I was excited that they were excited, and from very early on I knew that I was going to be in for an amazing day! One of the first things that I learned about Kathy and Alex was their love for all things FALL and I was so happy that they were able to have their wedding day during this season. I couldn’t wait to see how they incorporated fall (and the incredible, rich color scheme that goes along with it) into their beautiful day. The colors of their gorgeous centerpieces, bouquets, and bridesmaids dresses SCREAMED fall and I couldn’t get enough of it!
Alex and Kathy met in 2011. Kathy started to attend a gym that Alex worked at as a Taekwondo instructor. In 2012, they finally had an opportunity to get to know each other and really hit it off! One day after the gym, Alex walked Kathy to her car and they ended up talking for 4 hours! That’s when Alex told Kathy that he had “feelings” for her. They started “officially” dating 5/13/12 – 9 ½ years ago!
Kathy says that it’s hard to explain what their love story is. It isn’t a single moment but nearly a decade of changes. Since they have been together for so long (9 1/2 years), Kathy would say their love story has grown and developed in different ways. They started off as kids fresh out of college having fun! Then to young adults trying to figure out their own journeys. Then to working adults figuring out long term goals. If their love story had to be defined in a few words, it would be “partnership” & “laughs”. Throughout their relationship they’ve been a solid partnership, can always count on each other, and have had a lot of laughs along the way.
Kathy and Alex’s proposal story has to be one of my favorites! They make sure to travel to a location they have never been to before every year. In 2018, they decided to do a big trip to Europe. This included 2 weeks in Europe: Start off in London, head over to Paris, and then end the trip in Amsterdam. They were so excited to go on this awesome trip. Little did Kathy know that Alex was also planning a proposal during this trip! Right away on the first day of their trip (Oct. 3rd, 2018) they landed in London, rested up, and headed out in the town. They did some exploring and eating and at the end of the night they took a walk along the River Thames. Alex asked a couple that was nearby to take their photo and video. And Kathy asked “video? What for?” Next thing she knew; Alex was pulling out a ring box from the inside of his jacket pocket & gets down on one knee. He said some beautiful things (that Kathy admits she doesn’t fully remember because she was overwhelmed at what was happening) & asks her to be his wife! It was a wonderful, beautiful moment. Once they came back down to reality, they called their friends and family to share the news. They ended the night by going to a local pub and asking for a bottle of champagne which they drank and just kicked off a wonderful trip. The next 2 weeks consisted of them exploring Europe as a newly engaged couple. It was a trip they will never forget!
Congratulations, Kathy and Alex! I had the best time working with you both and I hope you’re having the most AMAZING time on your honeymoon! ❤️ Enjoy some of my favorites below!
