How they met….
Ashley and Justin met on Bumble! Ashley made the first move.
How they got engaged….
Justin proposed to Ashley during a trip to Paris on the balcony of their hotel room which overlooked the Tuileries Garden and had the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the background.
Justin insisted on booking a room with a balcony in November, and Ashley soon understood why! He knew Ashley would be most comfortable if they were secluded for their special moment. With such an incredible view all to themselves, it was a moment that neither Ashley or Justin will ever forget!
After the proposal, Ashley and Justin went out to a fancy French dinner to celebrate and soak it all in!
The wedding day….
There is something so magical about New York City weddings, and Ashley and Justin’s wedding was no exception!
Ashley and Justin got ready in the penthouse suite at a hotel down the street from Houston Hall. I started the afternoon photographing Ashley’s beautiful details (peep the gorgeous invitation suite that her sister, Christiana, designed!) as well as her bridesmaids having fun all together before the ceremony.
As soon as Ashley and her bridesmaids were ready, we walked over to Houston Hall to meet Justin for the big reveal! One of Ashley and Justin’s adorable flower girls wanted to be a part of the first look — and I loved watching her sweet reaction as they turned around and saw each other for the first time that day!
Ashley and Justin chose to have a beautiful, intimate ceremony at Houston Hall with their family members. Reverend Annie (the kindest woman I have ever met!) led the ceremony and invited each family member to read a piece of scripture. After the ceremony, Ashley and Justin’s families celebrated with champagne as they watched the couple sign their marriage license!
Before guests started arriving, Ashley, Justin and I took bride and groom portraits near Houston Hall. The surrounding streets have beautiful homes! Some of my favorite photos of Ashley and Justin are in front of a quaint home with a blue door, and at the back entrance of Houston Hall (the photos with the words “Iron Works”!)
It was so incredible to see Ashley and Justin’s vision come to life when we got back to Houston Hall for the reception! Each of the wooden tables had a runner of greenery as well as beautiful, glowing candlesticks. Houston Hall is such an incredible space complete with brick walls, concrete floors, and wood beamed ceilings. One of my favorite details of the space is their bar area, which uses pieces of steel labeled “Bethlehem Steel.” So neat!
Ashley and Justin, you are both amazing, and I wish you nothing but happiness on this new life adventure together! Congratulations, newlyweds!
If Ashley and Justin receive 30 comments on this blog post, I’ll send them a complimentary 8×10 print of their choice!
