Sam and Ed met working at a summer camp for kids with autism. At first they were just friends, but they spent a lot of time together because they were placed in the same group. Sam and Ed found themselves talking the entire night during a party at the end of camp. Ed claims he thought to himself that the guy who ended up with Sam would be pretty lucky! Fast forward to the following summer, and Ed was only coming up to camp as support staff. Sam says that Ed basically got paid to hang out with her a few days a week, and at the end of the summer he asked her out on a date.

For a little back story, Sam almost moved to Nebraska for grad school a couple of years ago and had to decide whether or not she wanted to go. Ed wasn’t going to be moving with her since he had just gotten tenure at his job. During that time, Ed got a fortune saying, “good news is on the way” (but he didn’t tell Sam until after she had decided to stay in New Jersey because he didn’t want to influence her decision!).

Fast forward to October of 2018 (the month of the proposal!), when Sam and Ed met her family at an apple orchard they go to every year. Ed had been coming since they had started dating. Sam says that it’s usually a big extended family event, and because of this, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The orchard is on a large hill and at the top there is a gazebo and a beautiful view of the rolling hills and farms in Warwick, NY. They walked to the top of the hill and Ed pulled out the fortune he’d gotten, got down on one knee, and proposed! Both of their families (Ed’s had been hiding behind the gazebo and came running out!) took pictures. They had lots of champagne for the rest of the afternoon; meanwhile, at their apartment a mutual friend was setting up flowers, more champagne, and a mini wooden pallet with “good news is on the way” written out in Scrabble tiles. This way, when Sam got home, she’d have an additional surprise!

Sam and Ed’s rustic wedding at David’s Country Inn was a long time in the making; and both of them were radiating pure joy throughout the entire day! It was my first time photographing a wedding at their venue and I loved the cozy, charming vibe. Everywhere I turned there was a new little nook to discover! One of my favorite parts of their venue was an antique bar from the 1790’s located off of the front entrance. I found myself soaking in all of the history throughout the day!

Guests gathered in the ballroom for the ceremony and watched as Sam and her father walked across the balcony and down the grand staircase to meet Ed at the end of the aisle. Sam’s sweet grandma was smiling from ear to ear as she watched that special moment! One part of the day that I was most looking forward to was hearing Ed’s vows to Sam. Ed owns a business creating personalized wedding vows and toasts (check it out for yourself here!) and I knew the vows that he’d write for his very own wedding would be beautiful and so very special. I loved listening to the stories that both Sam and Ed shared looking back on their 9 year relationship. These two have so much love for each other, and it was so apparent to everyone there!

Congratulations, Sam and Ed! I hope you’re having the best time on your honeymoon ❤️ Enjoy some of my favorites below!
