Peach Grove House | NY Wedding Photographer | Jenn and Ben

Jenn and Ben reached out all the way from Scotland (where Ben was working at the time) to tell me about their wedding day they were planning back home in the states. They had rented a historic inn, were inviting around 15 people, and wanted their day to be a beautiful celebration of their love. As we continued talking I found out that Jenn is a wedding photographer herself and practices both reiki and sound healing (talk about a dream client!). I rarely have the chance to photograph intimate weddings and I (quite literally) was counting down the days until the BIG one!

Everything was so calm and quiet when I pulled up to the inn the morning of the wedding. Jenn greeted me at the front door and introduced me to her family and friends. Everyone had been spending the weekend together and enjoying each others company. Jenn gave me a tour around the house and I found myself basking in every historic detail – the original floorboards, grand staircase (I love a good newel post!), beautiful fireplaces, and a historic map of Warwick hanging in the entry way – just to name a few favorites! I could. not. wait. to get my camera out and start photographing every detail of their day.

Jenn and Ben’s wedding ceremony was so perfectly THEM and unlike anything I had ever seen. They began their ceremony with a smoke cleansing and incorporated the four elements into their vows. As a beautiful nod to Scotland, they shared a cup of friendship together, known as a “quaich” towards the end of their wedding ceremony.

Guests gathered into the living room to enjoy the delicious cocktail hour spread followed by a welcome toast before dinner. One of my favorite moments from their wedding day was watching Jenn and Ben acknowledge each and every guest at the dinner table – sharing stories and how much everyone there had impacted their lives. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room!
