Tech Tip Tuesday: Using Different OCF Channels

Today’s blog post is going to be short and sweet! If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you probably saw that I second shot a wedding with my sweet friend Tracey of Tracey Krick Photography on Saturday. The beautiful reception was held outside, and just before the dancing started, Tracey and I got to work setting up our off camera flash set ups around the patio.

As we were shooting the dancing, I was noticing that my flash kept misfiring and overheating which was totally weird. Usually my flash only does that when I don’t allow it to fully recharge itself in between shutter clicks (which is really bad for your flash!). Shortly there after, Tracey noticed that her camera was triggering my flash. No wonder my flash was misfiring — the two of us were using it! It was a TOTAL face palm moment, haha! I hadn’t asked Tracey what channel she was using before we started shooting, and it turns out that we were both set to channel 1. Luckily, switching to channel 2 is an easy enough fix, and no damage was done 🙂 Definitely something I’ll be keeping an eye out for next time!
